The Mathews County Board of Supervisors has approved the plan for extending the enhancement of Main Street north to the Hyco intersection and south on the east side of Main to align with earlier work done on the street. The aproved plan calls for improved turning radii at key locations, crosswalks and appropriate landscaping. Once approval has been given by VDOT, the plan will be distributed for construction bids.

Mathews Main Street Enhancement Portion II

Food Lion to Hyco Corner

The Mathews Main Street Committee is working with the County Board of Supervisors to submit an application for Transportation Alternative (TA) Funding to complete the second potion of enhancement of Main Street. The application requires a resolution of support from the governing body. It is proposed to obtain input, both from the Board and citizens of the community, in time to submit a final design for TA funding by the October 1, 2019, deadline.

Under contract to the County, VHB has prepared a draft layout plan showing proposed turning radii, street widths, parking spaces and crosswalk locations. We invite you to review the draft design and provide input to the following questions.
